Have Your Home Smelling Like Fall: Part II
As we talked about previously, fall is a time of year that is full of wonderful scents. The best ways to capture these scents is not by spraying scented store bought air fresheners full of harmful chemicals. Instead try using a more natural approach by making a simmer pot, using natural scents, and baking some great fall treats.
Simmer Pots- Simmer pots are a good way to to get your home smelling great any time of the year. They are incredibly simple to do as well. All you need is a small pot, water and a few of your favorite fall scents and spices. Boil the water, throw in your ingredients and then set to simmer until your home smells great! You will see our favorite recipe here at Joe Filter to the right.
Natural Scents- Herbs like thyme, rosemary and sage are not just for cooking anymore. These strong smelling herbs are great for creating long lasting natural fall scents in your home. Just bundle them together in a little herb bouquet and leave them around in high traffic areas of your home. The great thing is even when they dry out they will continue to give off a pleasant aroma. These herbs can be found at most local grocery stores. If you are one who would rather not have "bouquets" of herbs around your home, fresh pine cones will work just as well.
Baking/Cooking Fall Treats- This is by far the tastiest way to go about getting that nice fall aroma in your home. There are literally tons of seasonal treats to have this time of the year and almost all of them will smell AMAZING! I prefer to stick with the basics such as, Pumpkin Pie, Apple Crumble, and Cinnamon Squash. These three seasonal treats should get any house smelling great. Recipes for these and more seasonal foods are all over the internet and shouldn't be to hard to find.
