Knowing when to change your air filters shouldn't be rocket science. We recommend checking your air filters monthly to ensure you are changing your air filters at the right frequency for your home. When your air filter looks like this, it's well past the time to change it!
Home air filter replacement intervals will vary from house to house depending on the amount of system use. If you tend to use your system year round you should change your filters more frequently than a household that only uses their system a few months out the year. Did you know that your HVAC system is using it’s filters when your system is set to “Fan” only? So be sure to include "Fan Only" time when considering your filter replacement schedule.
The average household should change their filters every 30 to 60 days. There are some exceptions to the 30 to 60 day change, for example, if you suffer from allergies, smoke inside your home, own a furry pet, or maybe the weather has been dusty outside. In these cases it’s recommended you change your filters every 30 days.
